Imagine you new self!

Imagine you new self!

Imagine waking up every morning feeling healthy, wealthy, and joyful. You have the energy to do all the things you love, and you’re financially secure. You’re surrounded by people who love and support you, and you’re making a difference in the world.

This is the kind of life that many people want to live, this is the kind of life that I have built for myself, often taking years, several changes, shifts to my mindset, changes to my nutrition and body, educating myself, and committing to the discipline and dedication to myself. Remember, discipline means being a disciple to self!

So many of my clients come to be because they are desiring to make a change, or several changes, to step into their own desires, their personal vision of beauty, their abundance, and I am here to tell you/them that it is possible to achieve it. Because as you age, mature, you have realized that being in mid-career, your mid-life ( what exactly is that? I would say 30’s-70’s!!!), and that your earlier desires have shifted.

What feels new for you? What changes are you desiring? What do you want to leave behind?

These are great journaling prompts, friend, so get out that beautiful hunk of paper and your favorite writing utensil, and journal for awhile about where you are now as opposed to one year ago, or more!

It takes hard work, dedication, and a positive attitude. But these changes can also be done with ease, with excitement for rebuilding and rewriting what you are newly desiring, or have been desiring for so long but not taken the steps forward, putting yourself last. And quite often it takes asking for help and guidance, which so many women are afraid to ask for, to invest in themselves and their own desires and future.

Here are a few tips to help you create the life of your dreams:

  1. Envision what you are now desiring! Take time to dream, and journal about new ideas, projects,
  2. Set goals. What do you want to achieve in your life now? Once you know what you want, you can start taking steps to make it happen. Make a MAP, a Magic Action Plan to break down your goals into smaller, more manageable steps, and track your progress along the way. Knowing your actions, your outcomes, and your purpose ( I teach my clients how to do this and it is so beneficial to really following your heart and your desires and manifesting them!)
  3. Take action. Don’t just sit around and wait for things to happen. Take action and make things happen for yourself. This could mean starting your own business, going back to school, or simply taking on new challenges in your current job.
  4. Be positive. Believe in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals. Taking time to acknowledge yourself, knowing you are worthy of all you desire, and that you can do it! A positive attitude will help you stay motivated and on track. When faced with challenges, remind yourself of why you set your goals in the first place and keep going, keep going back to you MAP, take small steps forward, move with ease and see those results too.
  5. Never give up. There will be setbacks along the way, but don’t let them stop you. Keep going until you reach your goals. Remember that everyone experiences setbacks, but it’s the people who keep going who ultimately succeed. Also, to remember, it really is about the journey, not the end results, because even those ideas can change as you move forward.
  6. Be open and spontaneous to those changes too. Allow the flow, ask the universe/ guides/ intuitive self for guidance and clarity.
  7. Allowing yourself to receive is the biggie for most of us. Accept, receive, take it in, and CELEBRATE your fabulousness!

I know that you can create the life of your dreams. Just set your goals, take action, be positive, and never give up. You can achieve anything you set your mind to.

I believe in you!

And know that I am here for you as your Lifestyle Coach, for Transformation, and for creating Movement, Momentum, and Magic in your life, to help you clarify, to break through the blocks and the overwhelm, to help set up your action plan, and to help hold you accountable for moving forward! Nature is my religion!

Nature is my religion!

I believe in the power of nature to heal, to inspire, and to connect us to something greater than ourselves. I believe that when we spend time in nature, we are reminded of our place in the world and our responsibility to care for it.

I have always been drawn to nature. As a child, I would spend hours exploring the woods behind my house, following alongside the creek, hanging out by myself. As I got older, I continued to be drawn to nature. I started camping and hiking, started going to Native American pow wows to learn more about earth spirituality. I wanted to listen to the land, and to the animals. I read books like “Black Elk Speaks” and “Seven Arrows” and other books by Sun Bear, finding answers and truths to my personal questions. And knowing I was on the right path. Plus I found a great connection with water- water has been a powerful and healing aspect in my life, being on the water, in the water. Right now I am vacationing in a small cottage on a lake and it is great for reflection and reviewing my work and desires, peaceful and beautiful. And now that I live in the desert, I feel the power of the earth in a different way, and the history too.

In the 80’s in San Francisco, I also dove into different types of spirituality, going to lectures and rituals, pagan ceremonies, adding in yoga studies, studying and then reading tarot cards for deeper understanding and connection to my guides and higher self, to Source/spirit, god/whatever works for you. I studied Shamanism, goddess mythology, dream work, witchcraft, art, and animal wisdom, all different philosophies, to learn the ways of others. To find what I connected to, what my beliefs and values were, and how they are now too.

Back then, besides creating art with my photography and playing music in bands, I was also working as a massage therapist, when I studied and I started using crystal healing, energy work, and my own intuitive guidance and empathic and psychic abilities to help others heal, through bodywork, coaching, and movement. Always going back to the earth wisdom. That is one of the reasons that my Global Caravan tribal bellydance style, and the growing global tribes, and business has developed so strongly too, I believe is my connection with the earth, revering the elders, ancient wisdom, honoring the animals, and listening to my divine feminine GPS!

My love of nature is not just a hobby or a pastime. It is a core part of who I am. Nature is my religion because it provides me with a sense of peace and belonging. It reminds me that I am not alone in this world and that there is something bigger than myself. And I am an important part of the wheel, wanting to do my part to help heal, educate, preserve, and honor that which we walk on. Nothing to take for granted, my friend.

I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the healing power of nature. If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or disconnected, I encourage you to spend some time in nature. Go for a walk in the park, hike in the woods, or simply sit in your backyard and listen to the birds sing. I promise you will feel better.

Nature is my religion, and I am grateful for the many ways it has enriched my life, and continues to do so, even now at a deeper level. It helps me bring magic into my everyday life, and that also helps to make me a great transformational coach and leader. It helps me serve my clients and students from a perspective of knowledge, education, curiosity, and connection.  I am able to bring in the woo with the practical in my coaching practice, because as humans, that deeper connection with self, with our desires, and to live with joy, and then to be able to give back.  is what we are here to do. I hope that you will find your own connection to nature and experience the joy and peace that it has to offer.

Thank you for reading!

Here are some additional details about the healing power of nature:

  • Nature can help to reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Nature can improve mood and well-being.
  • Nature can help to boost the immune system.
  • Nature can improve sleep quality.
  • Nature can help to promote physical activity.
  • Nature can help to connect people with others.
  • Nature can help to foster a sense of community.
  • Nature can help to promote environmental stewardship.
  • Nature can help you connect with the other living creatures we share our planet with.

So dear one, what will you do today, and every day, to honor yourself, or to step into your connection with nature, with the earth, with the animals? To spend some time, outside, listening in, walking, sitting, creating ritual and ceremony, and live into your own everyday magic as well, this is what I desire for you.

Heart and Hustle:
Visionary Healers, Movers, and Shakers
with your Lifestyle Coach and host,
Paulette Rees-Denis
and with today’s guest

Renee Reid, Diabetes & Lifestyle Coach, #161

Renee Reid is the voice of the Diabetic Toolbox, and I am delighted to share our conversation with you today!

Sometimes I pinch myself when I look at all of my amazing interviews from the past 5 years on Heart and Hustle ( besides the many that I have been a guest on). Just great people out there going through their own life stories and journeys, and then creating changes for themselves to live healthier, better, and more joyful abundance lives. And then how they turn the story around and want to help others get through with the tools they learned.

And that is what Renee has done, getting diagnosed with pre-diabetes, after a horrendous diet of junk food and feeling exhausted. After gaining 55 pounds and spending a lot of time crying, she turned her life around, trying to change things on her own. She realized she needed more help and decided she wanted a coach for herself.

She ditched the diet culture- THANK YOU– and now she is here to help you shift your mindset and get into a healthier framework, body, and lifestyle! Woo hoo!!!

Food is for nourishment, pleasure, and strength. This is sooooo important, my friend, and food is not for self-medication.

Have a listen and look at our conversation. Let us know your takeaways too…

Renee helps midlife women to win the battle against prediabetes by partnering with them to curate a lifestyle that assists them with reversing their prediabetes by losing weight naturally, healing their relationship with food so the weight doesn’t return, and healing their bodies using yoga and walking. Renee believes that every woman deserves a body that brings her joy.
“Two things I wish someone had told me when I was diagnosed with prediabetes is not to panic and that I could reverse my prediabetes by increasing my self-care, eating real food, and walking.  The good news is that prediabetes is reversible, and it’s my mission to ensure that more people understand that they can change their health legacy, so that future generations can protect themselves against Type 2 Diabetes.”
Type 2 Diabetes is an epidemic in this country, and Renee believes that the rising number of folks diagnosed with type 2 diabetes can help with more community education.
Renee is a wife, mom of five, and nana to two rambunctious little boys; when she’s not doing diabetes research, she loves to read, travel, devour English television mysteries, and enjoy fun activities with her family and friends.

My Aging Body as a 66-Year-Old Creative Woman

My Aging Body as a 66-Year-Old Creative Woman

Aging Bodies as a 66-Year-Old Woman

I’m almost 66 years old, and my body is changing. I’ve always been active, physical, a dancer and yogi and mover and shaker. I have always had a lot of energy. But I am noticing changes. I’m not as strong as I used to be, and I don’t have the same energy, close, but not the same. I get frustrated sometimes with these changes, but I’m learning to accept my aging body and appreciate all that it’s done for me. And it has done a lot!

My body has been my many forms of expression, physically and emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, for all of my creativity, and it has also been my money maker! As a dancer, global traveler, and teacher, it’s always been of the highest and utmost priority to keep strong, fit, and healthy, so I could do all the things I have already done.

And baby, I am not done yet.

Here are a few things I’ve learned about aging bodies:

  • They’re not perfect. My skin is getting more and more wrinkled, my hair is grayer and grayer, and I have some new aches and pains. These are just the signs of a life well-lived.
  • They’re strong. My body has carried me through a lot, and it’s still going strong.
  • They’re capable. I can still do the things I love, even if I have to do them a little differently. Because taking care of this body, this temple is high priority, still. Because I want to feel good in my skin.
  • They’re beautiful. My body is beautiful, just the way it is. Amen and hallelujah! That doesn’t mean I quit taking care of it, or keep improving it, being connected within and without,

I’m proud of my aging body. It’s a testament to my strength and resilience. I’m grateful for all that it’s done for me, and I’m excited to see what it will do in the years to come.

I’m never one to say, “growing old sucks”, or growing old is awful”, etc. I LOVE getting older, I love having new experiences. I love dancing and moving this body. I love continuing to use my new creative adventures and expressing all of it, sharing it with you too! And I love continuing my work of guiding women into their best selves, especially as we age and shift, and change values and ideas and projects and work and pleasure. This is my passion and my continuing focus.

As you aging, growing deeper into your life with new ideas of expansion, connection, and acceptance, I encourage you to embrace your changing body. It’s a beautiful thing.

Remember too, that your words matter. What you say about yourself, your aging processes, your body, is so important for your own well-being. Thoughts become words become things. If you say how hard it is to grow older, it will be. If you say, growing older sucks, then it will. Even if you are joking, your brain hears you. So try saying nice things about yourself. For reals… But if you say things like, ” I love my life”, or ” I love being in this body”, or I accept how my body is changing, I have worked hard for all this beautiful gray hair and these wrinkles”.  Highlight yourself, my friend!

Here are a few tips for aging gracefully:

  • Stay active. Exercise , and movement, is important for keeping your body strong and healthy. Keeping the joy of movement and flow can be delightful! Get off the couch…
  • Eat healthy. Food is medicine. Absolutely. A healthy diet will help you maintain your weight and energy levels. And all things related. Don’t need all those pills to mask new symptoms, I maintain a vegan diet, love to cook and eat healthy, non-processed foods, and don’t fall into consumeristic or hedonistic ways of eating and drinking. I eat things that make me feel good, and strong, and also adhere to my values ( no harm to any living creature)
  • Get enough sleep. Sleep is essential for repairing your body and restoring your energy. I still don’t sleep as good as I would like to, but I also enjoy daytime napping! LOL!
  • Manage stress, my friend. Stress can take a toll on your body, so it’s important to find ways to manage it. Sometimes, it is letting go of a work ethic, or your ego, or rewiring your old habits. That’s where I come in as a coach, to help you live with more joy, ease, comfort, abundance, and success!
  • Stay positive. A positive attitude can help you age gracefully and enjoy your life to the fullest. That’s what I mean about paying attention to the words you use to describe your life and your lifestyle. Be kind and look at yourself with love and pride, as a woman, a maiden, a mother, a woman coming into midlife or cronehood — wherever you are on your life journey…
  • Continue with self-education and self-growth. I still love taking classes, working with my coach for my business and life work, getting to the gym, and exploring new things. Life is awesome and I love being curious.
  • Nature breaks. Get outside. Smell the roses, Breath deep. All day long.
  • Journal! Get it out of your head, out of your body, and onto the page. Free yourself and your mind.
  • Gratitude, baby! Daily gratitude, acknowledging all that you are, have done, can do.

Aging is a natural part of life. We all do it, Embrace it and enjoy the journey! Let’s move forward with beautiful grace, love, and reverence.  Body as temple!

Honoring our elders is something our society has lost, and we can bring it back, by YOU, loving the process, sharing it, and becoming the wise one that you truly are.

You aren’t done yet either. Step into all that you can be.

If I can help guide you, as your coach for transformation, for clarity, for your new vision, please schedule that call with me, your free discovery call to see if coaching is what is next for you to enjoy your new path, your new vision, your new values. Aging with grace, dignity, and freaking excitement! Hell yeah!

Book that call now with me, I have openings in August for a few new clients, and I would love to know what you are wanting next…

Time to refresh! Have you taken some?

Time to refresh! Have you taken some?

Hello beautiful!

Happy July to you, wherever you are in the world, summer, winter, hot, cold… I’d love to ask you…

How often do you take time to refresh yourself? Your spirit? Your body? Your brain? And your emotional body?

And what does that look like for you? When you take time, is it a 5 minute deep breathing exercise, or a yoga class, or listening to an inspiring podcast, or a day off of social media, or taking a nap, or a get away from your home to someplace different? Do you take time to be in a circle of women who are supportive? Or to work with a coach, one-on-one, for tools, accountability, support, and help in rewriting your story and opening up your vision?

All of these things are great, and important, for your own creative spark, for your health and wellness, for you to step into your best life, your abundance, and your dreams, and also to back fall in love with you as you are now. Because first, we;ve got to love who we are today, before we can step into tomorrow. Know what I mean?

And that often takes time for the refresh, the renewal, to sit down and journal, to get off the couch and move your body, to step away from the hustle, to make quiet time for reflection too.

That’s what I’m doing this summer, on this extended road trip that my man, my corgidog, and I are doing. Driving across the country, for so many reasons. Mainly to go visit my mom in Ohio for 5 weeks and help take care of her. She’s going to be 97 and she is still rocking it! But needs help, so my siblings and I split the caretaking love for her,

But in the meantime, as we drive across this gorgeous country, visiting friends, and viewing the countryside as we cruise through so many states, I am forever breathing deep and looking out my window at the vastness of the land. From desert rocks and heat, to mountains of grandeur, to rolling green hills, to forever acres of growing cornfields, just the beauty can bring me to my knees. I feel so blessed to be able to witness all this country has to offer us, and I think of how often some don’t want to or get to experience the bounty. Nature is my religion, and the land is so sacred, as are all the amazing creatures that live with us ( as we humans keep moving them out of their natural habitats- but that’s another subject!).

Connecting to nature, everyday, is a non-negotiable for me. Whether it be my morning ritual of walking outside with my dog, or hiking, or sitting on the land. I love to listen deep and honor, and revere the land that we often take for granted. So, this is how I refresh.

I am spending 2 weeks at my family’s cottage in Wisconsin on a small private lake, and this is a rustic cottage, built in 1927, that my dad, my family, grew up in, and I used to visit every summer growing up, too. This is one of those beautiful old cottages, that used to have an outhouse, nothing fancy here, no air con or heat, just a funky fabulous cottage on a small lake. Jeff and I got married on the beach here way back in 1984 and we will be here for our 39 anniversary (OMG). And I am blessed to be able to make this happen (3rd year in a row, lately). I have created my life, my work, so I can do this type of thing.

Now I am not totally unplugged. I still work with my clients, and students remotely,  I don’t have the best internet connection out here in the middle of nowhere. i am working on my next poetry book, my vision for the summer. But this revives me, stepping away from my home office and my daily at home to do things. I open my eyes to new experiences that refresh me. I take time to just BE, and not DO. I choose to walk around the lake, or just sit and watch the water move or the butterflies flit on by, or get in the kayak for an early morning meditation.

And this is when those new visions come to light. New ideas for projects, for coaching clients, for dance classes, and for my next year’s movement and wellness etreat to Costa Rica!!! ( who’s in for that one?) I can do this type of refresh at home, and I do. But sometimes I want to step away to get that clearer picture, to see things that I might not see when I’m in my everyday activities. I want that deeper connection with myself and my dreams, and who I am today. As we age, we change, we expand into somethings more, different. and that is so important to acknowledge and listen to and allow the space to dream big!

So I remind you, that you too, can take time for a refresh, to rejuvenate, however that works for you ( and no, not just a mani/pedi!), but to really reconnect with your heart and soul. So tell me, beautiful one, how does that work for you? What are you needing? Wanting? Wanting more of? Wanting to change?

And what are you loving about yourself today? Please remember to step into that gratitude of who you are now and how wonderful that is, how blessed we truly are, on this planet, on this land, in our hearts and souls and bodies. You are amazing!

Thanks for hanging out with me, and let me know how I can help you, if you are wanting some extra guidance. I am here for you, Remember that I offer you a free phone or zoom consult to see what’ is next for you, and how to get there. Don’t be shy!
