A free writing class!

A free writing class!

If we keep ourselves moving forward with curiosity, we will continue to discover so much more about ourselves, as we are constantly revolving and evolving!

And one major way I keep learning about myself is with my consistent practice of journaling, almost daily. With that practice, I empty out the crap swimming in my brain, the old ideas I don’t want anymore, any frustrations, and that makes new space. Just like when you clean out your closet, you make room for new clothes, I make room for new ideas and projects, stories, and my life shorts ( my poems!).

It takes all kinds of practice too, not just dumping, but different ways of creating. I love using prompts to get my words flowing. Bits of poetry, ideas about sensations, writing little vignettes of stories or working on projects also. I’ve been doing that for years and years… consistently.

That’s why my words flow easily, my thoughts are clear, because I visit myself every day. I show up for myself, and participate fully. I stay connected with my spirit, with my body, my brain and put it on the page. That way I can see it, and feel it. I get the download! Editing can come later after I let the flow happen… going downstream…

And you know what? I freaking love it. It makes me feel so good, it helps me be clear, daily, so I know what I’m doing, what I can plan for, how my calendar is going to work for the day, the week, the month. All the things…

And that’s what I bring to you in my From the Body to the Page class! It’s all about YOU! Getting into your groove, finding a new way of expression, doing some exploration, getting silly with yourself and your words, even doing some deep diving… all with my prompts for the day. And the next best part is the reading and sharing with our private group. Yes, this is online, on Zoom, every Tuesday, 3:00 PST ( and yes it is recorded if you miss a day!)

This class has been going strong now for several months, with new people coming in weekly. I want YOU to experience this. If you have a hankering to try some journaling – are you afraid of your words? Or don’t think you can write? Or maybe you need some accountability to get back into your writing practice? Because thoughts become words become things.

Clarify those dreams! Get them out of your head and body and make them real.

When you work with me one on one, you get my undivided attention, knowing that I have your back, woman! We work together weekly for 3 months (many of my clients have continued to work with me for over a year because we get such great results!).

We’re going to make a MAP for you: your Magic Action Plan. This is learning a new way, with a feminine approach, to prioritizing what you want to do, as well as letting go of what is not needed. Learning to ask for what you want and believing you can have it is HUGE. Breaking that chaos down into simple clarification and knowing your purpose and your why. That’s a biggie, my friend. Knowing your WHY is what is going to propel you into delicious action!

You get to take real actionable steps, actions that make sense, that are exciting, and yes, I do hold you accountable for doing them, as you unfold into all your glory….that is what we do together. And I like to mix the woo with the practical. Body, mind, and spirit connections.

For you to live with passion. ease, freedom, abundance, and joy, let’s take that journey for you together.

Past clients say:

“Paulette Rees-Denis is a force to be reckoned with. Her message and speaking style are so authentic and true across the board whether she is speaking to a small group of women or a room full of change-makers.  Wherever she goes she brings her signature style that provokes the listener’s imagination. She is not only an effective communicator; she also lives what she preaches. Paulette is a game-changer for her clients and students.” PSJ

“Paulette, I met you in my fifties, I was completely lost and overwhelmed by my life focussed only on others (family duties, husband and dog) and when my desires always come last as if they meant less than the rest. I felt that something was missing in my life and I didn’t know how to get right on track. When I began working with you I was little skeptical but I quickly realized that you were the person who could really help me. You inspired me, you woke me, you gave the tools to stand up and finally to live my dreams. You were and you are my guide, you helped to discover my path and to build it, you taught to value and take care of myself and above all to love myself.” AA

I want to talk with you…

I want to talk with you…

What is your journey, my friend? Where are you wanting to go today, this week, this month, this year, after the past two years of crazy-making?

What are you wanting to change? Is it time for you to open up and allow your abundant creative flow? Are you ready to move forward with a clarified and glorious intention, to stand up and own what you are desiring?

How about YOU unleashing your inner rock star? Your wild soul?  Fly your freak flag and find your new voice! Because, you can make all the excuses, find tons of distractions, oh, those distractions, like that shiny gem over in that other corner! Know what I mean?

I know I would not have the life I have today if I hadn’t made that decision to take charge, to rewrite what I was wanting, and most importantly, to ask for help to get clarity and steps to move out of that stuck place I was in years ago, so I, too, hired a coach. I invested in myself, many times over, spending thousands of bucks to learn new ways, get support and tools to build myself and my business, so I could also build my coaching practice and help you. All so worth it, fun too, as I found a new mindset, and new daily, weekly, and monthly practices in goal setting, and developing new methods that helped me, and then helped many of my clients too. Plus I wrote and published my fourth book ( From Soulless Job to Creative Abundance! available on Amazon, here)

Asking for help and investing in oneself is HUGE, and does not have to be so hard. It really is just about declaring you are worth it, your dreams are important, you know you can make more money, you know you can write that book, or switch jobs, or start your own company. And feel freaking great in your body, falling back in love with yourself… so good.

Focus, Clarity, Abundance, Accountability, and Freedom is a key ingredient in my lifestyle. And Connection!  My values. And what I help bring to each client. What about you? What are your values that you want to move forward with? It’s a good time to sit down and think about those things for yourself.

I believe highly in pleasure and self-care–important aspects of my work, but I don’t lay around on the couch all day. I do my work, and really, redefining the word “work” and what it means to me. What does it mean to you? I love my work and get up excited every morning, to connect with my clients, to work on new projects, but also with free time to take care of myself and enjoy this life I have chosen.

I love my work, it is my passion and obsession, in such a good way. Leading others into their power, into their bodies, helping them to create, and re-create, re-define their beauty and visions, to clarify their desires-body, mind, and spirit–and guiding them to the steps that will kick start, clear their energy of those old stories, enhance their own inner power, build on the vision, so they too, can be the light! To live lit up every day, that’s what I say.

Because I’ve been there too. Feeling lost, alone, pulled in too many directions. But that all has changed and wow!

PJ writes: “THIS is my amazing Life Coach. Sometimes when we have a mountain to climb or a cliff we need to jump off, or a path we need help illuminating, having a guide for the hard parts can make all the difference. I am a witness to that. One of the best decisions I made last year was hiring Paulette Rees-Denis. If you have been thinking about your need for support and expert guidance to get through a transition, I highly recommend Paulette!”

Through coaching, through teaching dance, through speaking gigs and writing words, I have the freedom to call my shots, to make my moves, to travel for a month, to write another book, to book in those clients who are ready to work with me, to run a women’s retreats in gorgeous locales. I have a few things lined up for this year, too. ( like just starting a new women’s virtual coaching group.)

Right now, what I really want is to work with you one on one, and show you that you too, can be seen, get creative, focus on YOU, walk your talk, and take action. Now! That’s why I open up private and personal coaching slots at this time of year to talk with you, and see what you are wanting and desiring.

That’s what I call my From Chaos to Creativity sessions! Where we get on the phone for a ½ hour and find out if working together is the right next step for you. Then we can decide if coaching with me IS your next step! To guide you to the best year ever…and you don’t have to do it alone. It’s powerful to ask for help.

As your coach, I give you tools and inspirations, support, help you make a plan to finally do what you’ve been wanting with clarity and confidence, to find what’s waiting to unfold, open up your divine body with movement, and guide you to take real action. Real concrete action.

If you are ready to live lit up with happiness, pleasure, and abundance and knowing you are finally following your heart, say YES!

Working with me will give you the tools to change your life!

Isn’t it time to invest in yourself? I invite you to schedule in that free call with me now, and let’s get YOU on your calendar with me and step into that dream and vision of you!

ARE YOU READY TO AWAKEN THOSE DREAMS AND DESIRES AND TAKE ACTION?

Illuminate your path to all you desire! Live with everyday magic…

Let’s ignite your creative path so you can live an abundant, lit up, successful, and creative life!

If you are ready to dive in deep, unfold into your desires, move forward into your true self with ease, I’m here for you…

Heart and Hustle today with guests art curator, Myken Pullins and 2 artists in recovery #136

Heart and Hustle: Visionary Healers, Movers, and Shakers

with host Paulette Rees-Denis, Episode #136

and guests art curator, Myken Pullins and

artists in recovery, Rebecca Gonzalez Bartoli and Kristin Morris

from the Fresh A.I.R Gallery in Columbus, Ohio

January 2022

Happy Friday my friend!

Today we are talking about changing the stigma of mental illness and how making art is life changing! Whoa…

I bring you Myken Pullins, who happens to be my fabulous niece, who works with artists in recovery, through the health care system in Columbus. This amazing woman helps artists who suffer from mentall illness, addiction, and more to create a better life. Through art!

These folks have been able to heal through making art, and are recognized in the art world, and have been able to show their art, to sell their art, and perhaps make a living with their art, and change the stigma of having a mental illness. Life changing.

Myken runs a gallery call Fresh A.I.R. and gives the artists sometimes residency  in their art studio, plus they participate in the open art walks that happen monthly. This is where I first met them, saw their art, purchased a piece for myself, and saw what a great studio and artist happening this event was! And I got to hear a bit of their story, about how art has saved them. Which is why I wanted to bring them to you today.

Just awesome, and I thank them for sharing their stories, being vulnerable to being on camera and telling you a little bit about themselves.

Enjoy our conversations with Myken, and Rebecca and Kristen. And let me know what you think.

She has worked with hundreds of artists in all different stages of recovery from mental illness and substance use disorders and strongly believes that art plays an important role in their recovery towards healing. Coming from a family of artists, working in communications and finding collaborations for the arts and mental health has been a passion and priority of hers.

More about Rebecca:

“Keep the rage tender” is my favorite line from the poem Therapy by Nayyirah Waheed. It reminds me that despite all I’ve been through, my life can be tender and fulfilling.

I began struggling with mental illness when I was seven years old. I was diagnosed with OCD, which developed into severe depression by my teenage years. I self-harmed and had an eating disorder. When I was in the fourth grade, I had an art teacher who took special interest in me; I remember this well because it was then that I decided I wanted to become an artist. In high school I had another teacher, Tosca Villano, who guided me and supported my art like no other. I would have dropped out had it not been for her art classes. When I was 19, I began life in Philadelphia at my dream art school. Shortly before then, I had stopped taking my antipsychotic medication due to its intense side effects. It was a few months after the semester started when things took a turn for the worse, and I had an episode of psychosis that lasted several months. I was asked to leave school and I returned home in crisis. I was hospitalized and at 20 years old was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder.

This was an unbelievable moment for me. I was devastated, though relieved to finally have a name for what I’d been experiencing. The next few years were very difficult, including my traumatic time in the mental health system. One of the constants that stayed with me through everything was art. Art has been and always will be an integral part of me. It’s like breathing: I am not complete without it. Creating art is therapeutic for me, and when I am in the moment of making something, the world is quiet. I find peace. I desperately needed this peace throughout my twenties.

Through hard work and determination, I have now been in recovery for 10 years. Being an artist in recovery is a very important identity for me. I hope to share my recovery journey and how art has helped me become who I am today with others who may be struggling. These days, I like to live slowly and softly. I enjoy small things like taking pictures of flowers and traveling to the Fresh A.I.R. art studio. Everything I do brings me some joy, no matter how small. I appreciate the fact that I can get out of bed each morning, that I can eat, and that I can take my pills. Being kind to myself works hand-in-hand with these things, and I have to remember that I am living in the way that makes me happy.

I fight every day for my recovery, and not every day is easy. I live with chronic exhaustion and residual pain from trauma, and I still experience bouts of severe depression. I am still learning and growing as a person, and as an artist. My art is an expression of my mental health and the journey I’ve been on is evident in the progression of my creations. The best thing about being

More about Kristin:

Kristin Morris is a sculptor who graduated from the College Of Wooster with a degree in studio art and later attended the Columbus College of Art and Design. She also received a Master’s degree in social work from the Ohio State University, but now enjoys a career doing what she loves most: art!

Kristin is affected by Bipolar Disorder and OCD, and had her first solo gallery show while she was a patient at a long-term psychiatric hospital in Massachusetts. By allowing herself to become immersed in the minute details of sculpting and painting, she uses art as an escape from anxiety and depression. Kristin finds that she is able to express herself best through her art, which is constantly evolving. She does not want to be defined by her illness; rather, she wants to be recognized for her artwork.

Kristin has an active imagination and loves to create her own imaginary characters, all of which reflect her colorful sense of humor. When she sells her work, people often ask her: “What kind of dreams do you have?” and “What type of drugs are you on?” If only they knew.

Kristin derives much of her artistic inspiration from nature and often incorporates found objects into her work. She loves how it feels to hold clay in her hands and shape it into various forms. She recently started experimenting with underglazes and various painting techniques. By The Sea represents some of the happiest and most memorable times in Kristin’s life: the summers that she spent snorkeling in the Bahamas while her father taught marine biology/geology courses in the area.

~~~~~~~~~
So my friend, let me know how this touched you! Thank you for listening to this journey of meeting and networking with other creatives…
Blessings,
What part of your dreams are you waiting for?
What part of your dreams are you waiting for?
You want to focus but you have so many creative ideas.
Multi-passionate, that’s what they call you!
Me too! I am on fire with ideas and projects, but what makes me different is I know how to clarify, prioritize, and put those ideas into action! And get rid of the ones that are holding me back.
Finding order and structure is key in making my ideas come into creation, into being, into me stepping into my own abundance. That’s what guides me to help you to do that too…
It’s funny how we creative women often wait until the last minute to take care of ourselves, our wishes and wants and desires. I find that more and more these days with my clients and friends, that waiting until the last minute to really go after that thing we know deep inside is the thing that will take us to the next level, will make us happy, will help us enjoy our journey, our life, our work, our goals.
Even I have done this on occasion, but my time now is spent on prioritizing, and learning, on self-education, on joining in with the people, the groups,  and the things that will guide me, teach me, support me, while I surround myself with the right people, with the right actions, that feel good in my gut, my heart, my soul, my body, my mind.
Following those instincts and NOT waiting, because now is the time to step deeper into my own desires. And that is what I want for you, my friend. And I am here for you, to lift you up, give you tools and inspirations, for clarity, for detailing those dreams and desires, for focus and support, within our own magical circle of creative women.
You are worth all of it, all of the time, the money, the investments, the special care, the focus and clarity to, finally, get to the next place, your special place full of abundance, love, excitement.
Do you want to wake up each day ready to bust a move, to be lit up and be delighted to get on with your vision, to join in a gathering space of like-minded women moving forward with intention, clarity, and confidence?
To dance with your desires, to embody them, body, heart, and soul. To live with your values, to move forward with intention, passion, and desire. To live lit up every day, and ask for what you want. Take action and manifest them. Movement, Momentum, and Magic, to create your everyday magic.
Click now, to join our gathering circle tomorrow, and for the next 3 months!
